We are a couple from China, Joseph and Cindy. In 2024, we have entered middle age, our careers have suffered setbacks, and we have even returned to square one. We have begun to contemplate questions we never thought about before.
The Bible says that a person's days on earth are about seventy years, or eighty if we are strong. As we enter middle age and look back on the past while gazing toward the future, we can't help but ask ourselves: how should we spend the rest of our lives? What is the meaning of life that God has given us?
We thank God that this difficult period has not discouraged us. We know that God has not given up on us; when He closes one door, He will open another for us.
In September 2024, during a study seminar, we encountered the vision of LIGHTing+: to emulate our Creator, to be the light of this world, shining our unique light and truth, and to use this truth (faithful care) to illuminate the lives of more people.
How should we respond to such a calling? How can we light up someone's life?
In addition to using many methods and mediums (including our own lives and our interactions with others), we know that the true power lies solely in God's word and in all His works revealed to us through the Bible. “There is no other Savior besides Him.”
The Bible also says, "Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads" (Deuteronomy 11:18). Thus, we envisioned whether we could wisely use our gifts as designers to transform God’s words and the rich stories, scenes, and characters recorded in the Bible into items for daily use, including phone cases, guided by the Holy Spirit in prayer, so that people can often see and reflect on God’s words. For “blessed are those who meditate day and night” and those who “hunger and thirst for righteousness” will “be filled” if they are willing to seek.
What LIGHTing+ aims to do is precisely this, and it will be an ongoing action. Each of our lives as Christians is in a state of being used by God! Together, let us place God’s words in the accessible parts of our lives, so that whether we sit, stand, walk, lie down, come in, or go out, His words accompany us, becoming a lamp for our feet and a light for our path.
Thank God for LIGHTing in our lives! Our lives are renewed once again, and God has always been with us!
